What’s covered

  • One photographer for four hours (Half Day) or eight (Full Day)
  • Arrivals outside the venue, however they turn up: limo, tractor, fire engine or their dad’s car
  • A red carpet or backdrop spot for the friendship groups and the couples, with the teachers roped in
  • The meal, the awards and the dance floor
  • Hand-edited high-resolution images in a private online gallery, with a link the school can share
  • A personal-use licence, so students and parents can print and post

From £399 for four hours. Most proms fit a Half Day: an hour of arrivals and group photos, then the meal and the first part of the dancing. An all-evening prom with a late finish is a Full Day.

How it works

How we photograph a school prom in Lancashire

Prom season on the Fylde is the last two weeks of June and the first week of July, and the same handful of rooms host most of them. The Tower Ballroom is the big one, and the hotels on the Promenade take the rest: the Imperial, the Village Hotel on East Park Drive, and out of town Ribby Hall, The Villa at Wrea Green and Bartle Hall. Preston and Lancaster schools use Farington Lodge and Lancaster House. Before the night we check where the cars pull up and where the sun will be at seven o’clock, which matters more than it sounds.

The arrivals are the bit everyone wants. We set up outside half an hour before the first car and photograph each group as they step out, before anyone’s hair has moved. Parents stand behind us with their phones, and that’s fine. We get the one with everybody looking at the same lens, then they get theirs.

Inside, we set up a red carpet or a backdrop by the door with a bit of space around it. Each friendship group and each couple gets a proper photo, and the teachers get one too, usually under protest. It takes about an hour for a year group of 150. After that we go roaming: the meal, the prom king and queen, the awards, and the dance floor once the lights go down. Nobody has to queue for anything.

The gallery goes to the school as one private link. Students and parents browse it, download what they want, and print at home or through the gallery. We agree with the school beforehand how the photos may be shared, and any student who doesn’t want to be photographed isn’t.

Same-Day Prints

Prints to take home on the night.

Add Same-Day Prints to the booking and we edit and print a set during the evening, handed out before the night is over. For a prom that usually means the year group photo and the prom king and queen, or whatever the school chooses. 5, 10 or 25 prints, from £69 for 5. It’s an optional add-on, charged on top of the photography. How Same-Day Prints work.

Questions

How do we book?

Check your date, choose a package and pay a £100 deposit online. We hold a date for 7 days while you decide.

Do you charge for travel?

Travel within 10 miles of our base (FY6) is free. After that it’s 50p a mile, and we travel up to 60 miles.

Are you insured?

Yes. We hold public liability insurance and carry backup cameras and cards. Venues that ask for a certificate get one.

Do we get the photos on the night?

Add Same-Day Prints and 5, 10 or 25 of them, yes. The full gallery follows within six weeks.

Who books: the school, the PTA or the students?

Any of them. Most bookings come from the teacher organising the prom or the PTA. We invoice the school and send the gallery link to one named person, who shares it.

Do the parents get the arrival photos?

Yes. Everything we take goes in the one gallery, and parents can download the arrivals and the group photos for free with the personal-use licence.

What if a student doesn’t want to be in the photos?

Tell us before the night, or they can tell us on the door, and we leave them out. If they’re in a group shot by mistake, we take it down from the gallery.

How long do you stay?

A Half Day is four hours, which usually runs from the first arrivals to an hour or so after the meal. If the prom runs until midnight and you want the dance floor covered to the end, book a Full Day.

Organising a prom?

We reply within 24 hours. If it’s quicker to talk, we’re on WhatsApp and the phone most days.

What is it for?

We only use this to reply to you. Privacy
