Families
Family Portrait Photographer in Blackpool & Lancashire
An hour outdoors with your family, somewhere you already love, in the last light of the day. No studio, no white background, no “say cheese”. A family portrait photographer on location across the Fylde coast and Lancashire, with the grandparents in as many as they’ll allow and prints as an optional add-on.

What’s covered
- About an hour on location, timed for the best light
- Everyone together, the children on their own, the grandparents with the grandchildren, and the two of you
- A walk rather than a pose: we photograph you doing what you’d do there anyway
- Hand-edited high-resolution images in a private online gallery
- A personal-use licence to print and share
A portrait session is shorter than our event bookings, so ask us for a quote and tell us how many of you there are. For a big family gathering, say a reunion with thirty people and a meal, the event rates below apply.

Where we photograph family portraits in Lancashire
We don’t have a studio and we don’t want one. The Fylde coast has better backgrounds than any roll of paper, and children behave better in a place where they can run. These are the spots we suggest most, though your own back garden or the park at the end of your road is just as good if that’s where the memories are.
Lytham Green and the windmill
Wide grass, the windmill, the old lifeboat house and the estuary behind. Parking along the front and the light comes in flat off the Ribble in the evening. Good for toddlers who need room and for grandparents who don’t want to walk far.
Stanley Park, Blackpool
The Italian gardens and the fountains for something formal, the boating lake and the bandstand for something looser, and the rose garden in June and July. Big trees for shade on a bright day. We meet you by the café and walk from there.
Fleetwood
The Marine Lakes, the Mount and the beach at Rossall with the Lakeland fells across the bay on a clear day. More sand and fewer people than Blackpool, and the ice cream at the end is part of the deal.
Beacon Fell
Twenty minutes inland from Preston, up past Goosnargh. Woodland paths, a view across the Fylde to the sea, and heather in late summer. Wellies for the children and a flask for the grown-ups.
Golden hour
We book sessions for the hour before sunset, when the light is low and warm and nobody is squinting. On the coast in June that means starting about half past eight in the evening, with the sun going down over the sea. In October it’s nearer five, and in winter half past three, with a brew after. For families with very young children we do mornings too, soon after sunrise, when the light is just as good and the kids are at their best.
Grandparents
Bring them. The photo most people treasure ten years on is the one of the grandparents with the grandchildren, and it’s the one that gets put off because there’s always next time. We make sure it happens early in the session, before anyone is tired, and we keep them in a spot where they can sit if they need to.
We cover the whole of Lancashire. Travel is free within 10 miles of Poulton-le-Fylde and 50p a mile after that. Lytham, Stanley Park and Fleetwood are inside that; Beacon Fell adds a few pounds.
Prints
Something for the wall, not just the phone.
Family photos belong in a frame. Add a print pack to the session, 5, 10 or 25 prints from £69 for 5, and we print your chosen images from the gallery and get them to you in folders ready to give to the grandparents. Prints are an optional add-on, charged on top of the session. More about our prints.
Questions
How do we book?
Check your date, choose a package and pay a £100 deposit online. We hold a date for 7 days while you decide.
Do you charge for travel?
Travel within 10 miles of our base (FY6) is free. After that it’s 50p a mile, and we travel up to 60 miles.
Are you insured?
Yes. We hold public liability insurance and carry backup cameras and cards. Venues that ask for a certificate get one.
What if it rains?
We move it. The Fylde gets its share of weather, so we keep an eye on the forecast and rebook for another evening at no charge. A bit of cloud is good news; it’s wind and rain we avoid.
What should we wear?
Clothes you’re comfortable in that go together without matching. Soft colours work better than bright white or big logos, and the children should be able to run about.
How many photos do we get?
We edit the best from the session rather than promising a number, and you get all of them in the gallery. For an hour with a family of five that’s usually a good few dozen.
Can the dog come?
Yes. Bring a lead and some treats and we’ll get one with the dog looking at the camera, eventually.
