Privacy policy

This page explains what we do with your personal information when you use this website, send us an enquiry or book us. We try to collect as little as we can, and we never sell it.
Who we are
Tide & Tower is a trading name of Snap The Day Ltd, company number 16016853, registered in England and Wales. We also trade as Candid Camera. We are based in Poulton-le-Fylde, Lancashire, FY6 8HX.
Snap The Day Ltd is the data controller. That means we decide how and why your information is used, and we are responsible for looking after it.
Phone: 01253 835 838. Email: [email protected].
What we collect
When you send an enquiry or ask for a quote, we collect:
- your name, email address and phone number;
- your wedding or event date, the venue and the type of service you are after;
- how you found us;
- any message you write, and the packages you pick if you use the quote and deposit form;
- your IP address and browser details, which we store with each enquiry to help us stop spam.
Our web server also keeps ordinary logs of visits to the site (IP address, the page asked for, date and time, browser). We use them to keep the site secure and working.
If you book, we also keep the details you give us about your day, and the photographs we take.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To answer your enquiry and check your date. We do this because you asked us to, and to get a booking ready if you go ahead (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)).
- To run your booking and deliver your photographs. This is the contract between us (Article 6(1)(b)).
- To keep booking and payment records. The law requires us to keep accounts (Article 6(1)(c)).
- To stop spam and keep the site secure. This is a legitimate interest of ours, and a light touch on you (Article 6(1)(f)).
- To use your photographs in our portfolio and on social media. We only do this with your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), and you can take it back at any time.
We do not use your details for marketing unless you ask us to. We do not make automated decisions about you, and we do not sell your data.
Checking your date
When you use the date checker, the date you choose is checked against our booking diary. That diary is held in Candid Camera’s booking system, BoothBook. Only the date is sent. No personal information goes with it.
Paying your deposit
You pay the deposit on Stripe’s own card page. Your card details go to Stripe and never touch our website or our servers. Stripe is the payment processor. In the UK and EEA that is Stripe Payments Europe Ltd, and Stripe Inc handles some processing in the US. Stripe has its own privacy policy at stripe.com/gb/privacy.
For now, payments go through our sister brand Candid Camera’s Stripe account. It is the same company, Snap The Day Ltd, so the money and your details stay with us. Stripe tells us whether the payment worked.
Emails we send
When you send a form, we get an email notification and you get an automatic reply confirming we have it. We will then email or phone you about your enquiry. These are service messages, not marketing.
Who we share it with
These companies process information for us, under their own terms and only for the job we give them:
- our web host (cPanel hosting, in the UK/EU), which stores the website and its database;
- our email provider, which delivers our emails and your auto-reply;
- Stripe, for card payments;
- BoothBook, our booking diary (dates only, from the date checker);
- Cloudflare, which sits in front of the site to keep it fast and protect it from attacks, so it sees visits to the site.
We may also share information if the law makes us, for example with HMRC or the police. Where one of these companies handles data outside the UK, such as Stripe or Cloudflare, they rely on lawful transfer safeguards, like the UK’s adequacy rules or standard contractual clauses.
Photographs
We keep wedding and event images for as long as needed to deliver them and to offer reprints, and for our portfolio with your permission.
We only show photographs of you on our website, in our portfolio, on social media or in print with your consent. We will ask before we do. If you change your mind, tell us and we will take them down from places we control. We cannot pull back things that have already been shared or copied by other people.
How long we keep things
- Enquiries that do not become bookings: 2 years.
- Booking and payment records: 7 years, because tax law says so.
- Server logs: 30 days.
- Photographs: see the section above.
After that we delete the information or make it anonymous.
Cookies
We do not use analytics or advertising cookies. Our cookie policy lists the few cookies that can be set.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you and give you a copy (access);
- correct anything that is wrong (rectification);
- delete your information (erasure), unless we have to keep it by law;
- stop using it for now (restriction);
- give you your information in a format you can move (portability);
- stop using it where we rely on legitimate interests (objection).
Where we use your information because you agreed, you can take that agreement back whenever you like.
To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will answer within one month. It is free, though we may need to check it is really you.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or on 0303 123 1113.
Children
This website is for adults planning a wedding or event. We do not knowingly collect information from children through the site. We do photograph children at weddings and family events, and that happens with the permission of their parents or guardians.
Changes to this page
If we change how we use your information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
