Cookie policy

Short answer: we do not use analytics or advertising cookies, so there is no cookie banner to click through. This page explains the few cookies that can be set, and why.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file a website saves on your device. Some are needed for a site to work. Others track what you do. We only use the first kind.
What we do not use
- no analytics or visitor tracking cookies;
- no advertising or retargeting cookies;
- no social media tracking pixels.
The cookies that can be set
- WordPress login and test cookies. These are only set for our own staff when they log in to the site. If you are just visiting, you will not get them.
- Stripe. When you pay your deposit, you go to Stripe’s hosted card page. Stripe sets its own cookies there to process the payment and prevent fraud. We do not control them. You can read about them in Stripe’s privacy policy at stripe.com/gb/privacy.
- Cloudflare (
__cf_bm). Cloudflare protects the site from bots and attacks. It may set this security cookie, which lasts about 30 minutes. It is not used to track you across sites.
Why there is no banner
The law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations) lets a site set cookies that are strictly necessary without asking first. Everything above is in that group, so we do not need your consent and a banner would only get in your way. If we ever add anything beyond that, such as analytics, we will ask you first and update this page.
Controlling cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the Cloudflare cookie is fine, though you may be asked to prove you are human more often. Blocking Stripe’s cookies may stop the payment page working.
